My name is Janell and I am looking forward to starting a convo with you in the Candy Coated Rotisserie!
I’m a workaholic with a passion for writing and much to say about pretty much anything. Not that I’m a loud-mouth with a narrow mind—but more along the lines of having a keen observation in my day-to-day experiences paired with some overly expressive facial features (that may or may not get me into trouble sometimes). Nevertheless I always fancy a good roasting session with friends or via social media sites and relish upon hearing others reactions or comments each time.
Originally from Tacoma, Washington- some might say I am an “emo” at heart—with a strong appreciation for all the amazing originations from this rainy plain including hand-blown glass, siren-labeled coffee, Nirvana, flannel shirts, Death Cab for Cutie, Chris Cornell and of course the epic amazingness that is Alternative music. However, while my heart shaped box will always remain in the Evergreen State, my body on the other hand requires a generous amount of vitamin D to which I find myself rapidly approaching a decade as an Arizonian. Currently I reside in Phoenix, Arizona with my boyfriend Mark and our two dogs: Blue (Queensland Heeler) and Sparky (Pitbull mix).
Graduating Arizona State University in 2009 with a degree in Human Communications, minor in Mass Communications and an ungodly amount of private student loan debt, my world quickly went from ambitious graduate to hollowed slave of student debt. Most of my twenties were spent clocked in somewhere laboring in some way to afford my mortgage-sized student loan payments—and leaving me with very little means to live. Now at 28 years of age, I have finally been given a chance to actually do something that excites me and allows me to exercise my passion for writing—hence the rotisserie was born.
My goal with The Candy Coated Rotisserie is to excite, engage and enlighten readers with stories or experiences (both personal & in the news) that many can resonate with while incorporating humor, wit and a touch of sarcasm in wherever it seems fit. I enjoy reading up on effective ways to budget, conquering student loans, pop culture, DIY’s and how to pretty much be a bad a** at everything you do. Though I don’t fancy myself a “girly-girl,” I have also recently developed a strong interest in cooking and crafting along with a healthy obsession of pinterest. The Rotisserie is meant to be a site for entertainment and information at a level that is both easy to comprehend and enjoyable to read—while projecting a real and direct tone one might only find when chatting with their best friend.
I am happy you stopped by and encourage you to continue checking back as I slowly make my way into the blogosphere–
